Hi, my name is Frank Gomez. I am a career educator, who has served in various capacities in education over the last seventeen years. My formal education includes a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy, a graduate certificate in the teaching of philosophy, and a Technology Integration Specialist professional certificate from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, and two degrees from Spalding University in Louisville, KY—viz., a Master of Arts degree in Education and Philosophy (cognate) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Politics (minor).
Currently, I am pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Technology (with specializations in technology integration and online teaching and learning for adult learning) at Boise State University, while serving as the vice principal and a junior high teacher/Technology Integration Specialist at Maria Regina School (MRS)—a TK-8 Catholic elementary inner-city school in Gardena, CA. At MRS, I am also the vice principal, technology coordinator, a marketing team member, and co-chair of the WASC/WCEA accreditation committee. Prior to coming to Maria Regina School, I had functioned in a similar capacity as a junior high teacher and vice principal at St. Rose of Lima School, a K-8 Catholic elementary school in Maywood, CA, and as an instructor of philosophy and politics at St. John’s Junior College in Belize, C.A., for four years including two years as a department’s chair.
My research interests as it relates to educational technology generally focus on technology integration in the classroom, digital leadership, and the role of emerging technologies (Web 2.0 tools) in closing the achievement gaps. I am truly inspired by what works in education. I see technology's role as a supporting partner with untapped potential to advance 21st learning and teaching. As an educator, I believe that “We, who teach, sow the seeds that become plants that will bloom with flowering success in the spring of tomorrow.”
